Who are we?
Young Geoscientist Society of Africa is a student-led non-profit educational organisation. We aim to empower the new generation of young scientists within the dynamically developing continent of Africa. Our ultimate goal is to enhance the continent’s adaptation to climate change and enable a responsible supply of critical resources needed for a global net-zero transition.

Our Vision
By empowering the new generation of local geoscientists, we not only contribute in developing a young population of 650 million, but also maximise their capability to harness the natural wealth of the continent’s resources to its best potential, supporting the net-zero transition while raising their standard of living.

African Governments
YGS is committed to fostering close collaborations with ministries of education across Africa to improve domestic pre-tertiary education in geosciences. We will facilitate a seamless integration of a geoscience-focused curriculum into African school systems, developed through partnerships with leading global educational institutions.
The United Nations
By equipping the young generation with the necessary skills and engaging with the UN, we strive to fulfill the objectives of 7 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Multinational Companies
We will provide an opportunity and venue for multinational companies to fulfil their pledges to the net-zero transition by actively engaging with them to support our mission.
